"The Effort in the Impact" [ A Conversation withTamika Martinez ]As is Truth-Spin, Inc.'s normal practice, we've had a chance to sit down and speak to Tamika Martinez and pick her brain about things collegiate (both academic and athletic). | ![]() "Basketball is a relationship that has evolved over time, giving me the greatest respect and love for the game. Love is playing with nothing but heart!” -- Tamika Martinez |
So, Tamika... the effort that you put into the effort you have put into basketball, really into all your sports and school, must have made a huge impact on your coaches and your teachers. Do you think they could tell how hard you work? "With all the effort I put in I believe my coaches and teachers have seen so much in me, so much hard and yes I have heard from a lot of teachers and coaches even parents saying that I am capable on being in sports and having to do school work, and it's me who's responsible for all that work no one else, and what I've heard from people is that I'm confident and I have a lot of potential and I'm always positive I never down grade myself." Wow, it must be nice to hear that kind of thing... So, how do you to with people "following" you, paying such close attention to what you do on the field? cont. >> Right: Tamika Martinez/2014 | "Well, just having a positive
attitude, controlling my attitude. I just have to be a real leader in all the things that I'm doing... sports, school, and most of all in my own
future." Do you think you can mirror that same form at the college level, Tamika?
Ok, last thing... who most inspired you to strive to be a collegiate athlete. It's not an easy thing to do or be. "My mom... but I could also say my football coach. He pushed me, made me push myself, and talked to me about a lot. My football coach showed me that I am capable of anything!"
That all sounds great, Tamika! We at Truth-Spin, Inc. look forward to you getting the opportunity to continue to prove yourself but this time at the college level! ![]() |
